Watched with fascination the Red Sox - Francona saga yesterday. No doubt that Tito was paid off to mouth the "I'm tired and want to go to bed" lines we heard [until he slipped at the end and threw management uinder the bus]. Have never been a Tito fan for two reasons. A: I disagreed with his Mr. Nice Guy approach and thought that it would bite him in the a$$ eventually [seems I am correct], and, B: I disagreed with his big hit philosophy which neglected developing fundamental skills by the team which, many times, cost them games by failing to be able to manufacture one run when needed, not to mention that the man is basically unable to handle pitchers.
The Sox will hire a Theo clone who will be utterly dependent on metrics. Do not be surprised when Theo's computer, Carmine, fills out the lineup card.
The utter failures of upper management oveer the last two years left plenty of room for firings, however, as we all know, the big boys rarely go, only the middle managers.
