I really enjoy Rich Lerner of the GC. A talented and thoughtful guy. I thought that this week took a hard turn for the GC with two of their favorite binkys going south at the beginning of the 2010NT [No Tiger] season. so I wrote a note to Rich. I am sure he will reply.
"Rich: I don't know what else could go wrong. On the verge of an award winning documentary series launch highlighting
[excuse the pun] the life and loves on one John Daly, the star quits! Can this be true? Immediately, I quipped that this was a very clever ploy schemed up by Rich Lerner or one of the suits at GC to get all the deranged GC viewers to tune in to the series, but I later thought better of that idea and concluded that JD has, once again, stumbled over the precipice, and is careening toward another bottom at frightening speed. [see my prior e-mail on this subject]
Just when I thought things were as bad as they were going to get for GC, along comes Scott McCarron with a broadside at the GC's newest binky, Philsy [at least until el tigre comes back]. 'CHEATER!' is the cry! Philsy goes on GC and tells America, no, the world, that it is ok to skirt the ethical center, as long as doing so is 'legal' under the rules. What would Bobby Jones say? This should keep things going for you until at least April, when, Philsy will hold a press conference on the sixteenth green at Augusta, confess his sins, seek absolution from the fans [excuse me, patrons], and tearfully promise never to sin again. The fans, not a dry eye in the house, politely applaud as Philsey throws the offending Ping into the water. Everyone then enjoys a pimento sandwich and heads for eighteen where .............
El tigre, being rehabilitated as we speak, mystically reappears for the Masters, wife and children dutifully by his side, properly chastised and humbled. Cut to the Butler Cabin. GC promotes the press conference every two minutes for two weeks prior. Who gets the anchor spot and the personal interview? This could make a career! [I'm pulling for you, Rich] Lurking in the shadows of the Georgia pines is one James Nance and his CBS gang of miscreants. Has GC been double-crossed? Is it Nance who will mediate the public humiliation of el tigre, and not GC? As my Philadelphia, Irish Grand-Mother would say, "OY".
All we need now is a hot sex scandal out of the LPGA, preferably, a little on the light side, and GC has it's best year, evah, as we say in Maine.
All the best,
TommyO"
